In February 2025, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MOE) announced that it would accelerate the formulation of the National VII emission standards for light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, with the aim of bringing emission control technology in line with the international advanced level. At the same time, it put forward the strategy of “retiring National IV, regulating National V, controlling National VI and promoting new ones”, i.e. accelerating the elimination of trucks with National IV or lower standards, strictly rectifying the problem of exceeding the National V standards for National V trucks, reinforcing the intelligent supervision of National VI trucks, and accelerating the application of new-energy heavy-duty trucks.
